Diffusion and Osmosis????

Hello!

Wow! Today is May the 4th already, where has time gone?

I believe the countdown to Germany is around 87 days or so! I am getting so excited!

When I last wrote to you I had yet to move out of my house- and now I have been for a few days already. Living with another family has been absolutely amazing! You don't realize how many family traits you miss when living with a couple of friends. Every night we sit down and eat supper together! That in itself has been great. I loved the chatter around the dinner table tonight as we had spaghetti and strawberry spinach salad. Siblings were joking around with each other, parents were asking about everyones days - I had missed this!

God has been so good to me! He always has been but I have noticed it quite a bit lately, as I should more on a regular basis. I have been a little concerned about finances for Germany lately - don't get me wrong - IKNOW and trust He will provide, it's just hard being patient and waiting as the countdown is on. He has shown me even in the past few days not to fret - with things like gas/rent/dentist bills being miraculously paid for!

I like being independent and not having to ask people for help, which isn't always a bad thing - but God has been teaching me lately that sometimes He provides through other people. Sometimes trusting God means that we understand He will provide, but in His own timing , and in His own way.

I have loved getting to know the other girls going to BFA this fall! It seems more real when you talk to others who are going through some of the same things you are as moving to another country doesn't happen overnight.

Tonight I went and helped one of my youth girls study for her biology midterm tomorrow. Apparently I knew less about Science 10 then I thought??? Just when we thought we had Osmosis down pat... we came along diffusion which threw us for a loop! While I am glad I am not back in high school, I had fun coming up with analogies that would help her remember and understand concepts, for at least tomorrows test :)

For now - Gute Nacht!

Moving day...

Well, here we are - at the end of April. My roommate and I are moving out of our house that we have shared for two years today. While I am sad to see her go back to SK, I have joy in knowing I will see her again soon! First at our camping trip this summer and then.....drumroll....in EUROPE!

This is the next step in me getting closer to moving to BFA. For the next 6ish weeks I will be living with some families from the church (bless their hearts!) while I continue to work until mid-June. June 19-26 I will be heading to MN for a TeachBeyond orientation! There I have the chance to meet some other girls going to BFA who will possibly be my roommates!

Please pray that God would open the hearts of those He wants to give. Also pray as I will be going home at least 3 times this month . I am hoping to meet with lots of people and have
the opportunity to share where God is leading me.

If you would like to be on my Newsletter email or mailing list please Facebook me, or email me at bmann@teachbeyond.org or britt_360@hotmail.com with your email or mailing address

Blessings on you today!

One windy day...

Hello!

Boy oh boy! This wind is making me go a little nutty! Just when you thought it couldn't get worse...it does! haha! But...I guess it's better than a snow storm in April right? :)

The past few weeks have been pretty crazy... preparing for Germany, car troubles, Easter, Youth events... life hasn't stopped for a moment! But...It never does, does it?

God has been whispering in my ear the last few days to slow down, not to stop, but to slow down. I need to continually make Him my priority and try not to squeeze Him into my schedule but allow Him to be a part of my schedule.

He doesn't want bits and pieces of us, He wants ALL of us. That includes at work, in line at the bank, and buying your Tim Horton's coffee.

Let's allow God to have the rest of our week. Not just thursday evening but all of it.

Blessings on you friends!

Germany here I come!

It's been a while since I last wrote so I thought I should write and tell you the great news!

About a week ago I heard back from BFA - and I have been accepted! Today I received my formal confirmation from TeachBeyond as well!

Germany is where I am headed!

Please pray as I prepare and get ready to embark on this new journey for the next two years.

The Beginning...

Well.... this is my very first time blogging, on my very first blog - how exciting!

It has been a CRAZY week!

I should give a little background before I start the crazy events of this week-
Back in the fall of 2009 I was seriously considering applying to be a Resident Assistant at Black Forest Academy. Black Forest Academy is a Christian Boarding school for mostly missionary kids in Germany. I thought and prayed about it and decided to send them an email. I asked them lots of questions regarding applying and they told me that I had to be 22 to apply to be an RA. For those of you that don't know I won't be 22 until the fall of 2011. I was slightly disappointed and kind of put that idea to the back of my mind.

They told me that applying this early for the fall of 2011 wouldn't be a bad idea since there are quite a few things that need to come in place for it to happen. But, I stopped thinking about it for a while. After Christmas I came back to Lethbridge and the thought lingered in my mind still...
I decided I would at least apply. I emailed them again and the process began... On my application I applied for RA and Secretary, as that is the job I am doing at present and love doing it. I had high hopes to be an RA though.

We got the ball rolling and I sent in a criminal record check, temperment analysis, all of my records, I was sent a book on fundraising to read and things were definitely moving!
In order to work at Black Forest Academy you also need to apply with a missions organization that will send you over and help you raise support. I applied with TeachBeyond. Right from the beginning I was hooked up with a Canadian who has helped me all along the way. She emailed me about a month ago and asked "would you be willing to come Aug 2010 to be a secretary".

This was both exciting and scary to hear. I was excited that this year could be a possibility and at the same time scared that it would be coming up so fast. As we have worked through the process though, I have become so excited and ready to see how God provides and leads. I will be content both with going and not. Wherever God wants me I will go.

Last week I scheduled an interview with TeachBeyond (the mission organization I am possibly going with) for an interview on Monday right after work. If you know me well you probably know that interviews are a little nervewracking for me. Not to mention this one was for an hour and a half!!!!!!!! Yikes! She asked me all sorts of questions from what life was like growing up, to doctrinal questions, to what my food allergies are. The ins and outs of BRITTANY! It ended up going really well. She said that I should be receiving my acceptance from Black Forest Academy by the end of the week. I was supr excited!

Tuesday morning I was driving to work, already with my phone on silent. I pulled it out as I was getting out of my car and this weird number had called me...hmmmmm??? I listened to the voicemail only to realize I had missed a call from BFA! He said that they were having a board meeting the next day and would like to talk to me before then if possible. Yikes! They are 8 hours ahead of us. I quickly wrote him an email and told him I had an hour off for lunch. He wrote back saying he would talk to me soon. Oh boy! I had not expected to have another interview this soon - let alone today!

I drove home quickly anticipating his call at any moment... I wasn't home five minutes and my phone starts to ring. It was a great time to chat with someone from the school as they got to know me a little bit better. He asked me a few questions like the night before but this interview only lasted about 20 minutes. He said I would know their decision by the end of the week. I hung up the phone feeling pretty confident.

That leads me up to this morning... I woke up early, had prayer with Courtney and Michelle and off to work I went. I knew that their meeting was probably over and was anxious to know their decision. It was on my morning break that I noticed I had missed a call. Hmmm...another weird number! I compared it to the one from yesterday and sure enough it was from BFA. No voicemail message though. I thought that maybe within an hour or two he would email me with the news. I am still waiting. haha!

There is something incredible about waiting patiently in the Lord. Resting in Him and knowing that He is in control and has my best interest in mind is SO comforting. While I would like to know what this coming August will bring... I am content waiting.

Thanks for reading!
Be Blessed!
